Peavey Rockingham Nat Made in Korea 2004? & fitted Hard Case

Excellent example of a Korean Peavey Rockingham which I believe is from 2004

This guitar came in recently. I was offered it for sale & I did some research before buying it. Reading various posts about the Rockinghams, there are two distinct models, one is made in China but this earlier model was made in Korea, allegedly at the renowned "Peerless" factory. The guitars have two different headstock logos, the earlier Korean models have the standard "Peavey" lettering across the headstock. The Chinese models have a more ornate logo which I have shown in one of the gallery photos.

I can't speak for the later Chinese guitars as I have never played one but this Korean one plays really nicely. When it came in it had been sitting in it's case for a number of years & the frets had dulled & it had also never been set up. Once I had restrung & done this the guitar plays beautifully. Unfortunately, I was out of 11 gauge strings so I had to put a set of "10's" on it which sound fine but the heavier gauge would give a much richer tone

Regarding the date I have put on the guitar, this is simply from the information given to me by the previous owner about when he bought it etc. There is a serial number inside the F hole which starts "N0403...." From other serial numbers I see from Korea, they often start with a letter followed by two numbers which indicate the year of manufacture so 2004 would be an educated guess. The Rockingham is said to be based on a Gretsch G6120. It does look very similar. They do sell a version with a Bigsby fitted. As you can see, this one is without but I prefer that anyway

The guitar is in excellent condition however, one of the pickups was no longer working. This has now been replaced. When I looked over it, I noticed two lacquer cracks which I have photographed for the gallery. One is by the input jack socket &  the other is at the side of the fretboard. Neither of these is structural & they have probably been there from new but I just wanted to point them out. The guitar case has also suffered a knock on the bottom edge. This has been reglued and is sound, offering good protection but the repair is visible on the lower edge. See photo.

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in hard cases which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit.  The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag. This particular guitar was supplied with a hard case from new
