Yamaha Japan PAC-1511MS & Gator Hard Case

Known as the "Mike Stern" model, these PAC-1511MS Telecasters from Yamaha Japan don't come up too often. They feature a bound Ash body, Maple neck & a pair of  USA Seymour Duncan pickups which sound great. Regular visitors to the site will know I'm a big Yamaha fan. They make consistently good guitars & I've had many on this website.

This is just the second MS I have had & this one is all original. Made in 2004 it has been used but other than the odd nick around the body which were too small to photograph & a couple of two small lacquer cracks where the neck is joined to the body, the guitar is in excellent used condition. The frets are very good with no indents & loads of life left in them. One small problem these guitars have is with the headstock. The Maple neck has a lovely bare finish but the front of the headstock is lacquered. This finish has a habit of lifting & this was the case with this one when it came in. I have repaired it but a very small part of the Yamaha symbol came away whilst making the repair. It's all sound now & looks fine but I always like to point out any blemishes. Please check out the photo gallery where you can see detailed photos of the headstock as it is now.

Here's what Yamaha say about this guitar

From his days with the Brecker Brothers and Miles Davis to his string of successful solo albums and tours, Mike Stern’s credentials are indisputable. Throughout his career as one of the reigning kings of modern jazz guitar, Mike has relied on single-cutaway guitars. His devotion to that instrument is reflected in the Mike Stern signature model, the Pacifica 1511MS.

As a long-time fan of vintage single-cutaway solidbodies, Mike Stern’s influence on the Pacifica 1511MS is immediately evident. The bound-edge, solid ash body carries a traditional control layout and plate-type bridge, while the maple fingerboard is contoured to a pronounced 7.25” radius.

Mike’s renowned playing style, blending lyricism, bebop and a scorching rock intensity, requires modern-day sound flexibility, and that’s what the 1511’s humbucking pickups deliver. The Duncan ’59 at the neck is known for its warmth and smooth tone; the bridge-position Hot Rails dishes the dirt with a fat, raw, distorted tone and incredible sustain. A perfect combination for bridging those jazz/rock licks.

Gator Hard Case

Hard Case:

As stated many times, due to courier damage, all my guitars are shipped in hard cases (usually new) this one being a near new Gator. I do have a tweed option and these are a little dearer (extra £10). If you prefer that, please email me for details. If you are collecting, I'm happy to knock off the price of the case (About £30) & I may even have an old gig bag you can have to take it away in

So to sum up, a great example of the highly rated Mike Stern Signature Telecaster

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Or, you can buy easily and safely using the Paypal "buy now" button. Don't forget to select the right option using the drop down menu on price, i.e. Collection, UK shipping or EU shipping. If in doubt, please email me first as Highlands & Islands can sometimes be a little dearer for shipping
