1978 Greco SE-500 Natural & new hard case

This Greco SE-500 was built at the famous Fujigen-Gakki plant after production had switched from Matsumoku in the mid 70's. As you can see it's a direct copy of the Fender Stratocasters of the day that were coming from the USA. Fujigen-Gakki went on to build guitars for Fender from 1982

Yet another superb vintage guitar sourced in Japan & imported to the UK by me. It was produced during the time when Japanese manufacturers like Fernandes, Greco & Tokai were trying to replicate the USA models & making a superb job of it. So much so that guitars from this era are in big demand if they have been well cared for as this guitar has. There are a few nicks and marks but considering the guitar is 40+ years old, I would say it's in excellent condition.

It has a solid 2 piece Ash body & one piece Maple neck. The pickups are Maxon Excels which, as a quick internet search will show, are very highly rated. Taking a look at the guitar & then comparing it to a 1970's Fender Stratocaster, it's a faithful copy. Large headstock with scrolled script (looking remarkably like F*ender from a distance) Maple neck with 3 bolt fixing & micro tilt adjustment. A bridge with a huge steel block & period & design correct chrome saddles. The body is nicely routed. The guitar came with it's original bridge cover which you don't see too often and when I stripped it down to check the pickups etc it was apparent that the guitar looked to be 100% original, even down to the 3 way switch (this can easily be changed for a modern 5 position switch)
The guitar can be accurately dated to November 1978 from the serial number
Take a look at the gallery where I have photographed all aspects of the guitar.

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. I can also offer a retro tweed case for an extra £12. Just let me know if you are interested. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £30 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag
