1983  JV Squier Japan SST-45 Stratocaster  & New Hard Case

This SST-45 domestic market only Squier Stratocaster was made at the Fujigen factory and has a JV serial number  "JV7xxxxx" dating it to 1983. It looked quite different when it came in, the previous owner having ditched the original 11 hole 3 ply scratchplate, knobs, backplate, pickup covers & switch tip in favour of a mirrored scratchplate, black metal knobs & pickup covers. The last two gallery pics show how it was. It's a shame some of the original parts have gone but the body, pickups, pots, switches & wiring as well as the very important neck & tuners are all original. Talking of the neck, for me, that's the strong point of these early JV Squiers. The slim neck with rolled edges is so easy to play. That's why people love JV's

Talking of pickups, the original pickups in the SST-45 were SQ-4 Hotrod with Alnico staggered pole pieces. They sound significantly better than the SST-30 ceramic pickups

Condition: This guitar is covered in scrapes and dents but these are in keeping with its age & I haven't repaired any of them as I think they add character. The frets are in good shape without indents and the Rosewood fretboard is good too. The trussrod operates correctly and the neck is nice and straight.  The tuners, bridge and nut are all good. The electrics all work as they should and the original pots and 5 way switch are in good shape too. Here are some specifications:

Replacement parts: The Scratchplate & Backplate are both new replacements in 3 ply Parchment. The pickup covers are black replacements as are the knobs & switch tip. The tremolo arm is also a replacement

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. This case can be upgraded to a very nice tweed one but these are an additional £12 each at present. Please contact me before purchasing if you would like this. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £30 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Or, you can buy easily and safely using the PayPal "buy now" button. Don't forget to select the right option using the drop down menu on price, i.e. Collection, UK shipping or EU shipping. If in doubt, please email me first as Highlands & Islands can sometimes be a little dearer for shipping
