1983 JV Squier SST-50 Stratocaster Chrome Red & New Hard Case

This SST-50 domestic market only Squier Stratocaster was made at the Fujigen factory and has a JV serial number  "JV47424" dating it to 1983. It's an early JV Squier and has a 3 way pickup selector. These changed to 5 way in mid 1983. There's a pencil date of 13/04/1983 on the heel of the neck & original tags etc confirming the serial number. The Alder body is Chrome Red which isn't a colour that's listed in the catalogues I can find but that's not unusual. The body definitely hasn't been refinished but I suspect that the pickguard & pickguard screws have been changed for black at some stage as the backplate is white and there is evidence of another pickguard hole having been filled in. There is a "D" stamp in the neck pocket indicating "Domestic Market" The electrics look to be untouched and the pickups on these were SQ-5 Hotrods  with Alnico staggered pole pieces. They sound significantly better than the SST-30 ceramic pickups

Please check out the gallery photos which show general condition, points of interest & the neck pocket & underneath the scratchplate.

Condition: This guitar is covered in scrapes and dents but these are in keeping with its age & I haven't repaired any of them as I think they add character. The frets are in good shape without indents and the Rosewood fretboard is good too. The trussrod operates correctly and the neck is nice and straight.  The tuners, bridge and nut are all good. The electrics all work as they should and the original pots and 5 way switch are in good shape too. Here are some specifications:

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. This case can be upgraded to a very nice tweed one but these are an additional £12 each at present. Please contact me before purchasing if you would like this. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £30 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.

Or, you can buy easily and safely using the PayPal "buy now" button. Don't forget to select the right option using the drop down menu on price, i.e. Collection, UK shipping or EU shipping. If in doubt, please email me first as Highlands & Islands can sometimes be a little dearer for shipping
