2006 Yamaha Japan SA-2200 CSB & Hiscox Hard Case

This wonderful Yamaha Japan Super Axe 2200 in Cherry Sunburst was sourced in the UK & not imported. It was purchased in 2006 & just never used. Just sat in it's case. I know that seems a shame but it does mean that the guitar is practically as new. It has a few playing marks on the pickguard but that is it. There is no tarnishing on the gold coloured hard wear & no scratches or dents on the body or neck. It comes with the original paperwork & manual & is supplied with a top quality Hiscox Flight case

This model is still made & sold by Yamaha Japan and sells new for around £1500.00 although the list price is £1685.00.  From what I can see the only colour option now available is Violin Sunburst & not Cherry Sunburst as this one is.  I have priced it at under £1200 which may seem a little high but I feel that it's worth it. It plays beautifully as you would expect and sounds great. The dual humbuckers with coil splitting give a massive range of tones meaning that you can use it for many styles. Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz etc etc

Constructed from a figured laminated Maple body & a Mahogany neck this really is a superb guitar. I have had a couple of 1990's ES-335s and I have to say that the build quality & variation of sounds is better on this Yamaha. Anyway, here's what Yamaha say about this guitar:

Yamaha SA-2200 Overview & Specifications

Yamaha SA2200; a semi-acoustic guitar from Yamaha featuring a solid Mahogany centre-block for enhanced presence and sustain.

Yamaha Quality Construction

Yamaha have proven time and again that they deliver instruments that perform well beyond the expectations many would have based on their relatively low price point and the SA2200 is no exception!

Allowing for fantastic presence and attack and bringing its own beautiful aesthetic, the body of the SA2200 is made of laminated figured Maple which is supported by a centre block.

The SA2200’s one piece Mahogany neck has an extremely comfortable profile and features traditional set-neck construction.

An extremely playable Ebony fretboard adorns the neck, offering a lovely, bright quality to the guitar’s tone while also being incredibly hard-wearing; sure to be in great condition even after years of playing.

Powerful Electronics

Powering the sound of the SA2200 is a pair of Alnico V humbucker pickups.

With an extremely punchy tone, these humbuckers deliver an incredibly powerful performance that is great for hard and classic rock, handling the grunt needed for roaring blues licks and a clarity reserved for jazz.

Providing extra versatility and diversity in your tones; the coils in these Alnico V humbuckers can be split with the tone knobs so you can enjoy single coil style sounds and a three-way pickup selector switch allows you to toggle between a series of sonic performances.

The figured laminated Maple body and split-block inlays of the Ebony fingerboard along with the classic construction and f-hole design result in an absolutely beautiful guitar.
