The Yamaha "Super Axe" range have been around since the late 1970's and this earlier SA-1200S was only made in small numbers from 1979 to 1983 making this quite a rare guitar from Yamaha
The SA-1200S is a copy of a 335 but with push/push tone pots which split the coils giving a great single coil sound. The guitar has chrome hardwear, an Ebony fretboard, dot inlays on the fretboard and a solid Spruce top. The sides of the guitar are Alder & the back is Beech. The body and neck are both bound. The finish is Polyester
This guitar is all original but it is not pristine & it does have some chips and marks as shown so please examine all the gallery photos. There are also a couple of lacquer cracks on the top of the guitar. This is all cosmetic and doesn't affect the playability which is superb as you would expect & I personally prefer the aged look to a shiny new one. Condition is consistent with a 40+ year old guitar.
These guitars really do play well & I love the Yamaha pickups. This guitar can handle anything from Rock to Blues & Jazz.
Overall, I would describe the condition as very good. The neck is straight and the frets have some wear but still plenty of life & no indents.
