1982 Yamaha SG-1000 Brown Sunburst & Original Hard Case
The Yamaha SG-1000 first appeared on the market in 1979 & has been a popular choice for many years for many a guitarist. With it's Mahogany body & carved Maple top, set-in Mahogany neck & Ebony fretboard it can handle loads of different styles but has been a particular favourite with rock players. Early examples are getting harder to find, particularly those that are all original & in good condition.
When I saw this particular guitar for sale in Japan I was immediately very tempted. The guitar is all original. It does have some battle scars around the edges & some scratches, small dents & some "clouding" but all of this is consistent with a 40 year old guitar & I have photographed all the scrapes & chips & they are in the gallery. I should also point out that the gold hard wear has tarnished in places as shown and there is some wear around the pickups. Having said all of this, the guitar plays fantastically well as you would expect.
A big plus point with this guitar is that the original hard case is included. Once again, it has wear that is consistent with age but is in overall good condition with catches & hinges working
These guitars really do play well & I love the Yamaha pickups. Both have coil split facility via a push/push tone pot & you can get an amazing range of really good sounds. Everything from screaming rock solos to some lovely rhythm sounds when just using the single coils
Overall, I would describe the condition as good. The neck is straight and the frets have plenty of life & no indents. Here are some specifications
