JAPAN IMPORT

You don't seem to see many Fender Mustangs in comparison to the Strats, Teles and Jazzmasters. Due to their size, scale length they tend to be favoured by people who want a lightweight guitar (3.18 kg) with a slim neck and shorter 24" scale length which makes bends easier & also makes the Mustang really good fun to play.

This Mustang from Fender Japan is from the recent "Traditional" series. The most notable difference from other Mustangs is the flatter 9.5" radius fretboard which you tend to find on more modern guitars. I find it makes guitars a lot more playable than the traditional vintage 7.25" radius. This lightweight medium scale guitar is nice looking, sounds good and very easy to play thanks to it's slim neck & bright responsive pickups.

As the guitar is only 4 years old, it's in fantastic condition with very minor scratches & playing marks. It looks to have only been lightly used and it plays very nicely. I did note that the tremolo arm looks more like a Jaguar or Jazzmaster design and may not be the original, however it still does the job & replacements are cheap enough. Lastly,  Daphne Blue is just about my favourite Fender colour! All in all an excellent guitar from Fender in Japan.

Info on Japanese Fender guitars:

Since 2015, Fender Made in Japan guitars have been produced at the "Dyna-Gakki" factory in Nagano. This facility has been making fabulous guitars since 1972 for Fender Japan (pre 2015) Greco, Fernandes etc. The quality of the instruments coming from this factory is superb.

About the Fender Mustang...

Originally built as a student guitar by Fender USA back in the 60's the most notable thing about the Mustang is the shorter 24" scale which is the same as the Musicmaster, Duo-sonic & Jaguar. They have proven very popular over the years as a "surf" guitar & again with grunge bands like Nirvana. They continue to be popular today. The shorter scale & lightweight body also makes them popular with players with smaller hands. Two single coil pickups, both with in/out phase switching & a dynamic vibrato system mean that they are a little bit different to the standard Strats & Teles. The 60's reissue models have a simple "slab" body but the later MG-69 & MG-73 models have a contoured body and also have metallic finishes & colour matched headstocks.

Thomann/Gear4Music black/tweed Hard Case

All in all it's an excellent guitar from Fender in Japan that you probably won't find here in the UK

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new  hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. This case is a nice new one from Gear4music.  Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
