2004-2005 Fender Japan AST-65 Aerodyne Stratocaster Black & New Hard Case

The Aerodyne Stratocaster from Fender Japan is not often seen outside Japan. They are popular with the domestic market & I haven't seen many others in the UK (apart from my imports) They are a lightweight Stratocaster (this one is just 3.4 kg) with body binding & a colour matched headstock. They either have a H/S/S pickup configuration or, like this one the traditional S/S/S. The other important feature with the Aerodyne is that they come in two scale lengths, the standard 25.5" or as a 24.75" M or "Gibson" scale length. This is the standard model with a 25.5" scale length. The Aerodyne Stratocasters are equipped with Fender Japan vintage pickups which sound great.
The Aerodyne Stratocaster was first produced by Fender Japan in 2004. The domestic market models had a scratchplate fitted, the export models did not. This being a 2005 guitar is an early example and was built for the Japanese market.
This guitar is in good playing condition but the body is peppered with small dents and scratches & giving it a nice used look. After all, it is 20 years old! There are a couple of small chips on the edge of the body and I notice a small paint crack on upper side of the body at the neck joint. I have taken some photos to try and show these small dents etc which you can see in the gallery. Shiny black surfaces are incredibly difficult to photograph with a digital camera so it's difficult to get them to show. The price reflects the condition and it is around £100 cheaper than other similar Aerodyne Strats I have had in stock. Having said that, the guitar is all original (apart from the tremolo arm) the frets have plenty of life with no indents and it plays really nicely as you would expect. In fact it plays so nicely that it's currently on a hanger next to this computer so I can use it for practice! I can't emphasize enough what a nice players guitar this is.
What appeals to me about the Aerodynes is the modern look with body binding and a colour matched headstock and the flatter more modern 9.84" fretboard radius which makes them easier & so nice to play. Real head turning guitars.

Hard Case
As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. This case is a nice new fitted one from Thomann in Germany. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £30 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag
