As you have probably already guessed, I am a big fan of the FGN range of guitars. Fantastic build quality from the Fujigen-Gakki facility in Nagano, Japan. Excellent (USA Seymour Duncans on this guitar) pickups with 3 way switching, CFS for improved intonation, satin finish to the neck The list goes on and on!
Here we have an FGN NCTL-10M Ash VNT from 2008. In case you were wondering. NCTL stands for "Neo Classic Telecaster" "10M" refers to the Maple fretboard & "VNT" is the Vintage Natural finish. General condition for this guitar is not perfect. When it came in it had a few chips around the edges & some wear to the lacquer on the fretboard but this is consistent with a 15 year old guitar that has been used but definitely not abused. You can see all these chips in the gallery photos. None of them affect playability in any way. To me, this really is a guitarist's guitar.
The neck is beautifully straight and has a soft "V" profile which I like. It's maybe feels a tiny bit thicker than the usual Japanese "C" or "U" profiles. I have small hands and I find it very comfortable.
This FGN is one of the early ones and has the original (& I think better) logos with the script:
"Genius of Guitar, Fujigen" which is typically Japanese

So to sum up, an excellent guitar from Fujigen Japan. This model is not so easy (or as cheap) to find here in the UK unless you import it. Why not play something that's just a little bit different?
