JAPAN IMPORT
Apart from all of the Fenders, Edwards & Yamahas that I like to import from Japan, it's always nice to see guitars that are more unusual. Brands like Bill Lawrence, Bacchus, CoolZ, History & this Japanese made Ryoga Hornet which is ideal for those players who want something just a little different.
Ryoga is a brand name used by musical instrument distributor Shimamura & there are cheaper Ryoga guitars that are built in China but this model is made in Japan to the usual high standard that you would expect
This particular guitar was built in 2020 & doesn't look to have been played much. There is a small dent on the top of the body but that is about it. It's a lightweight bodied guitar that reminds me a little of a Les Paul Special although it has a 24 fret neck which is bolt on. The combination of the humbucker with coil splitting at the bridge and the P-90 at the neck make it a very versatile guitar. It also has a 24 fret neck and a design that gives great access to the upper frets.
Here's the spec.. I had to translate this from Japanese so it reads a little strangely in places!
Ryoga Hornet
Combined with the light weight and good body balance, which is a major feature of RYOGA, it is a guitar that is easy to play without getting tired even after playing for a long time. Available in two colours: open pore wine red (OWR) and open pore black (OBK). Both models are painted with a thin open pore finish, which leaves a beautiful wood grain and contributes to the good sound of the body.
Mahogany body (open pore finish)
Mahogany wood has a sweet and deep tone with a rich midrange, which can be said to be the cornerstone of guitar sound. The paint has an "open pore" finish that conveys the texture of the wood grain .
Bolt-on joint
A unique heel cut has been applied to reduce the area where the palm hits the body when playing high notes. Combined with the thin body thickness of 38 mm, you can play comfortably until the final fret.
Hard maple 3P neck
Hard maple material with high rigidity is used. It is a structure that is resistant to warping and twisting by cancelling each other's misalignmentof the three materials. In addition, a bump-shaped bump (volute) is attached near the back of the nut to improve the lack of strength near the nut that tends to occur in necks with an angled head.
Original pickup
The newly developed P90 type pickup "RP90" mounted on the front features a thick and chewy sound. The rear "RH-1" is shared with the RYOGA PRO series, and a coil tap function has been added.
Tuning Pegs
Adopted GOTOH MGT (locking type), which has a good reputation. Minimize the length of the string wrapped around the peg shaft for more stable tuning. A thumbscrew-type lock mechanism that requires tools allows for extremely easy and speedy string replacement even when a string breaks.
Control
The tone circuit has a built-in push/pull switch, and when the knob is pulled up, the rear humbucker is coil-tapped to produce a single-coil-like sound. With two independent volume specifications for the front and rear pickups, it is possible to create a sharp sound from clean/crunch to lead.

Hard Case
As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. Please contact me before purchasing if you would like this. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag.
If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
Or, you can buy quickly and safely using the PayPal "buy now" button and I will ship to most UK addresses the next working day. Highlands and Islands can be slightly dearer but I'll keep the cost as low as I can.
I can accept credit card payments by phone and will also offer a small discount to purchasers using bank transfer payments.
Overseas customers are very welcome but please email me first for shipping quotes.
