2025 Fender MIJ FSR Traditional 70's Telecaster Thinline Mahogany & new hard case

£899.00 + shipping

This 2025 Fender MIJ "Factory Special Run" Telecaster Thinline 70's reissue is an absolute beauty! Factory Special Run (FSR) generally means that Fender only produce a few & this is the only one I have seen listed in Japan so far. As a price guide, the ones for sale in Japan are all around £1000 but this is before VAT, Duty & shipping.

This guitar features  a pair of Fender Wide Range Humbucking pickups. While humbuckers, they offer a low output, making them a must-have for the Thinline, which exudes a vintage, mellow tone and picking nuances.
The distorted sound is somewhere between a Gibson-style guitar and a Fender, and it pairs perfectly with Marshalls. (Fender Japan's words, not mine, but you get the gist!)

It has single volume & tone controls making it easy to play. With a Mahogany chambered body, Maple neck & fingerboard, it really stands out and looks great.  It also features the 70's Logo & "Thinline" transfer on the headstock.

The Mahogany on this guitar is quite a light shade and it looks really good. The condition of the guitar is near mint. Some light scratching on the scratchplate but the protective film is still in place. Once that has been removed, this will be like a new guitar.

Since 2015, Fender Made in Japan guitars have been produced at the "Dyna-Gakki" factory in Nagano. This facility has been making fabulous guitars since 1972 for Fender Japan (pre 2015) Greco, Fernandes. The quality of the instruments coming from this factory is superb.

The Mahogany semi-hollow body means you get a nice light, well balanced Telecaster. The frets have no visible wear & the guitar is a pleasure to play.

Here's some more internet based information regarding this guitar:

Tone:

The semi-hollow ash body provides a light weight and enhanced resonance and sustain. Equipped with Fender Wide Range Humbuckers (WRHBs), the guitar produces a unique, "chewy" and transparent tone that can range from crisp, clear cleans to rich, driven sounds suitable for various genres, including hard rock, blues, and jazz. The tone is often described as a balance between a traditional single-coil Tele and a humbucker-equipped guitar, with a "P90-like" clarity but with more body.

Playability:

The "U"-shaped maple neck offers a comfortable, firm grasp, which is generally well-received, particularly by players who prefer a chunkier neck. The 9.5-inch radius fretboard and narrow-tall frets provide a modern, smooth playing experience that facilitates bends and vibrato.
Hardware: It features a 6-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge for great tuning stability and sustain. The vintage-style "F" stamped tuners also perform well in maintaining tuning.

Common Considerations
Pickup Authenticity: A common point of discussion is that the modern reissue Wide Range Humbuckers are not true reissues of the original 1970s CuNiFe magnet pickups; they are re-voiced versions. Despite this, most users find the tone very good and versatile.

As stated many times, due to courier damage, all my guitars are shipped in hard cases (usually new) this one being a plain black one. If you are collecting, I'm happy to knock off the price of the case (About £50) & I may even have an old gig bag you can have to take it away in.
