What a truly stunning guitar this is from Epiphone Japan. This is the latest several Elitists I have imported from Japan. This guitar is in superb condition, particularly as it is 18 years old. It plays beautifully and the USA pickups sound great. The neck is dead straight and it's a real looker! I have tried to photograph any blemishes and signs of wear but these are so minimal, the camera won't pick them up. The top of the guitar is excellent and there are no indents to the frets which still have around 75% life left
This guitar is a "Standard Plus" model which is defined as having a non-weight-relieved solid African Mahogany back with a book-matched, highly figured flame Maple top (Standard Plus designation).
Here is a little info regarding the series:
The Elitist Series were made at the Terada and Fuji-gen factories in Japan. (F serial indicates Fujigen manufacture) The same factories that made all of the Orville by Gibson and Orville guitars the Terada guitar factory mostly making the semi acoustic models and the Fuji-Gen guitar factory mostly making the solid body models. The Elitist Les Paul was made from 2002-2008
The Elitist guitars were made to very high specifications. Most of the parts were made in Japan but some parts were made in other countries, including the USA and Germany. These guitars cost more than twice as much as a standard Epiphone guitar. The Elitist series was discontinued in 2008
The Epiphone Elitist Series includes features such as real Abalone and Pearl inlays, bone nuts and saddles, hand-rubbed finishes, USA strings and meticulous adjustment and set-up.
This guitar has the distinctive "Tombstone" headstock shape and is equipped with Epiphone/Gibson USA pickups. It also comes with a lovely but unbranded hard case which is used and does have some minor scuffs and nicks but in overall very good condition. My guess is that this was one of the last Elitist models and they had run out of branded cases as it's identical to
