Another lovely reissue from Fender Japan. The Fender Japan 1972 Stratocasters were an excellent guitar this one was originally fitted with Fender Japan ST Single Coil pickups. This guitar has been upgraded and has been fitted with Seymour Duncan SSL-4 "Quarterpound" pickups at the neck and bridge positions to boost the power. Here's what Seymour Duncan say about these pickups:
"With more than twice the power of a traditional Stratocaster single-coil, the Quarter Pound pickups will transform any Stratocaster into a mean growling beast, bring you a fat, punchy tone with plenty of top end sparkle. These high output Strat pickups will give you big, beefy chords, and single notes will jump out in a way that no other pickup can deliver. The individually hand-polished ¼” diameter alnico 5 magnets help to give it plenty of the high-end sparkle and upper midrange harmonics that make this pickup so special."
This guitar is finished in popular Vintage White with a Maple neck & Rosewood fretboard. The pickguard has also been changed to a black one which looks pretty good. When I checked the pickups, I noticed one additional hole drilled to accommodate the change. The original one had been plugged.
The 70's Stratocasters featured Maple necks, large headstock & a bullet trussrod. Other features were a 7.25" fretboard radius, a 3 ply pickguard, chrome block saddles & a 3 point neck bolt with micro-tilt adjustment.
This guitar is in excellent condition considering it is over 10 years old. I noticed one dent on the bottom edge. I haven't repaired it as Vintage White is so difficult to match as the colour fades. Also, the guitar has had a sticker on the back plate at some time leaving a colour change on its removal. There are photos in the gallery. All in all it looks great & the USA Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pickups sound awesome.

Hard Case Policy
As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag.
