You may not have heard of "CoolZ" but you have probably heard of the factory where it was made. Fujigen-Gakki is one of the best known guitar making facilities in Japan & over the years has been responsible for nearly all of the finest Japanese made guitars. Ibanez, Orville, Fender, Greco, Epiphone Elite, Yamaha & many others were/are all made at Fujigen. Fujigen make their own FGN brand and also make guitars for Japanese distributors Shimamura & these are the History & CoolZ brands. You don't see them outside of Japan as they are for the domestic market only but they are built to Fujigen's usual high standard. I've had a few CoolZ guitars on the website over the years but this is the first Les Paul Custom style guitar & I have to say, I'm impressed.
The ZLC-1 Dignity has a solid Mahogany body and neck & Rosewood fingerboard. The finish is a very popular black with gold coloured hardwear & the guitar has Grover sealed tuners, a GOTOH bridge & a synthetic bone nut. The guitar also features Fujigen's own CFS "Circular Fretting System" which improves intonation & playability. It really is a well made guitar. The humbucker pickups are branded "History" and are Fujigen's own. They work well & the guitar has a really good sound. There are a few demos on YouTube
The overall condition is good for an 11 year old guitar with just a few scratches & minor dents which are mostly on the back. There is a small area on the back near the lower edge where some paint is missing through wear (see gallery) Other points to note are that a couple of the control knobs show cracks. They still work exactly as they should. Replacements can be sourced for a few quid on Ebay if it bothers you. I also noticed a small crack on the jack input plate which surrounds the jack input socket. Once again, purely cosmetic & can be easily replaced.
The guitar plays really well. Straight neck, low action and good pickups. Overall, for a Japanese built guitar at this price with a fitted hard case this is amazing value.

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit. Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and bring your own gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag
