JAPANESE IMPORT

The Yamaha The YSG range consisted of 4 models all launched in May 1988 and discontinued in 1990. They were produced for the Japanese domestic market only although a few have reached the UK over the years whether by import or by mistake. They have a slight "PRS" look about them and I like the simplicity of the controls. The other good feature is the 24 fret neck which, on this instrument is nice & fast. When this one came in, I liked everything about it apart from the pickups which were, believe it or not, known as the Yamaha SH1T pickup! Who knows if that's true or not but it's an amusing anecdote.

Anyway, they weren't the greatest and when I decided to use the guitar for gigging with my band, I changed the pickups for a pair of USA Seymour Duncan SH-3 "Stag Mags" humbuckers. So called due to the staggered pole pieces which, according to reviews online, give the best single coil sound when the coil is split. So, I also installed is a push/push tone pot. The result is a really versatile guitar that I can use with my covers band for everything from jangly 60's to 70's funk & 80s rock.

I am rarely using this guitar at gigs so it has become time to move it on. I shall be sorry to see it go but it is a beauty & I know the next owner will love it. As well as the pickup & electrical upgrade it has also has a professional fret dress & set up by Crockett guitars & the original Yamaha pickups are included in the sale.

These guitars really do play well & I love the Seymour Duncan pickups.

Overall, I would describe the condition as very good. The neck is straight and the frets have plenty of life & no indents.

This guitar came in with an old gig bag. It's tricky to find a fitted one with the offset body however, I did find a suitable one from Thomann which will be supplied with the guitar

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit.  Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that I won't ship a guitar in a gigbag.

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
