This SST-314-50 domestic market only Squier Stratocaster was made at the Fujigen factory and has a JV serial number  "JV79218" dating it to 1983.

The SST-314 50 is quite an unusual model. I hesitate to say "rare" but there aren't many around. This guitar has a 24.75" (628mm) (Gibson) scale. "SST" stands for Standard Stratocaster. "314" means the scale length up to the 12th fret 314mm and "50" relates to the original price of 50,000 JPY

This particular model is unusual It's an early JV Squier but has a 5 way pickup selector. These changed to 5 way in mid 1983. There's no pencil date on the heel of the neck which is unusual but possibly due to the slightly smaller neck size. The Alder body is 3 Tone Sunburst which is a colour that's listed in the catalogue. There is a faint "SST" stamp in the neck pocket indicating "Standard Stratocaster" The electrics look to be untouched and the pickups on these were SQ-5 Hotrods  with Alnico staggered pole pieces. They sound significantly better than the SST-30 ceramic pickups

Please check out the gallery photos which show general condition, points of interest & the neck pocket & underneath the scratchplate.

There is also a photos of the guitar next to a standard scale stratocaster for size comparison. As you can see, they are very similar. The slightly shorter scale length may suit someone with smaller hands but I am fairly average & had no problem at all playing it.

Condition: This guitar has some scrapes and dents but these are in keeping with its age & I think they add character. The frets have some wear (around 60% left) but are in good shape without indents and the Rosewood fretboard is good too. The trussrod operates correctly and the neck is nice and straight.  The tuners, bridge and nut are all good. The electrics all work as they should and the original pots and 5 way switch are in good shape too. Here are some specifications:

Hard Case

As said many times, all my guitars come shipped in a new black hard case which is included in the price. I find this is the safest way to avoid damage in transit.  Alternatively, if you are collecting the guitar and, like some buyers have cases coming out of their ears, that's no problem, I'll adjust the price (usually around a £50 discount) and I can usually find you an old gigbag to take the guitar away in. The only hard and fast rule I have is that i won't ship a guitar in a gigbag.

If you are further interested in this guitar, you can either email me with any queries & I'll do my best to get back to you within 24 hours.
